The Grey Wolf #1: The Professor pt 1
As he flips through the notebook his mentor, Dillan Randall, had just given him, Waylan Ashe watches a piece of paper fall to the ground. “What was that? Dillan asks as Waylan picks up the paper. They both see it’s a new paper clipping from Chicago of a story about a group of people suspected of being a cult. Dillan originally got the notebook from his long time friend, Professor Emery and was aware of his stories about a secret group who always ended up around or in his opinion, starting catastrophes.
He always said it was the same five to ten people and in the last 5 years, he had proof of 25 events they were involved in. They had different hair, beards, glasses but Emery knew they were all connected. So much so he lost his university job. With his newly found free time, the professor did more digging Waylan and Dillan were now reading those notes in Emery’s note book.
Dillan almost destroyed it because of all the horrible things Emery was connecting mystery group to, but when Professor Emery had a heart attack, he had to make sure Dillan got his life’s work. What did Dillan expect Waylan to do, Dillan has had this book for years and hasn’t found the mystery group yet.
The Grey Wolf is chosen by The Pack through an internship from Conall Industies. The council researches and invites direct decedents of the original Grey Wolf, Earl Ulmer. Ulmer was a Viking and the first of his blood line to manifest wolf like abilities and could even shift into an actual wolf. Ulmer and his sons would wear wolf skins into raids and struck fear into the people they attacked. As his clan grew and his sons started to have children, his traits started to pass down through his first born, Wolfrik. This gene gets passed down as a redundant trait in first borns that doesn't show until the descendent is 25. Signs can be pushed out through specific exercises of physical events like obstacle courses through the woods, tracking exercises, personality test, group projects, etc. Everything Canall uses to test their intern pool. Agents of The Pack who don't carry the gene but who are still decedents are always scouting prospects and deliver the invites to candidates whom the board thinks could show the Grey Wolf gene.
